Hyuse is an exceptionally skilled fighter, being able to fight on par with some of Border's most powerful agents, such as Reiji Kizaki, Kyōsuke Karasuma, Yūichi Jin, and is proficient with his Enhanced Trigger. His artificial horns grant him a high level of trion and superior trion manipulation. He is also very analytical. He began training at the age of 8, when none other than Viza taught him swordsmanship, and received Lampyris when he was 14. His teacher regards him as an extraordinarily gifted warrior.
Following his enlistment in Border, he managed to reach B-Rank in a few hours thanks to the special rules. He was able to clear the Colossal Neighbour simulation in 1.5 seconds on the first try, a record that places him behind only behind Yūma Kuga. With only Kogetsu, he managed to defeat B-Rank agents like Koarai, Tomoe, Miura and Sasamori, with only the latter being able to win once against him, after studying his movements. Hyuse also lost only 2 fights out of 5 with master class Kogetsu user Tsuji, and was evenly matched against the current No. 6 Attacker, Ikoma, until the latter used Senkū. However, when faced against Tachikawa, Hyuse could score only 1 win out of 5, prompting him to estimate that his current level in swordsmanship alone would place him somewhere between the No. 4 and No. 8 Attacker, and to amend his Trigger set. Right after choosing his Triggers, he scored 8 victories out of 20 rounds against the latter. Like Rei Nasu and Kōhei Izumi, he possesses the rare ability to adjust the trajectories of Viper in real time, although he admitted he needs more practice. Hyuse is also very knowledgeable about several countries of the Neighborhood.
The horns installed on Hyuse's head have improved the amount and quality of his trion over the course of years, giving him extraordinary reserves. Although his Border trion body was programmed not to replicate them, Hyuse still retains the Trion Receptors in his living body.
This earring-shaped device can project three-dimensional holograms for a variety of purposes. It can display the position of Neighbor planets in relation to their orbits, and possesses a Radar function with a very wide range that can distinguish among the various types of Trion Warriors. Hyuse is first seen using Kogetsu in Chapter 119.
Despite claiming he has gone rusty, Hyuse is very proficient in using this Trigger, owing to the six years of training in swordsmanship under Viza. With it, he was able to defeat multiple C-Rank agents in quick succession, as well as several agents from the middle of B-Rank. In terms of pure sword skills, he was evenly matched against the current No. 6 Attacker, Ikoma. However, when faced against Tachikawa, Hyuse could score only 1 win out of 5, prompting him to estimate that his current level in swordsmanship alone would place him somewhere between the No. 4 and No. 8 Attacker. Hyuse is first seen using Kogetsu in Chapter 159.
When in the trion body created by Lampyris, Hyuse is protected by an armored cape that can deflect the bullets of Border's Gunner Triggers, as well as absorb the effects of Lead Bullet, shedding the affected parts and regenerating moments afterwards.
Jin considers Hyuse a masterful user of this Trigger. Lampyris allows Hyuse to control numerous magnetic triangle-shaped projectiles that can be used in many ways, such as forming a shield to stop or to reflect any attacks. It also use the attracting properties of a magnet in order to bring people towards him, restrain them, or act as markers. By using electromagnetism, it can create a railgun. The user also capable of creating large, round, spiked blades, which can effortlessly cleave through a trion body, and forming a shield that can reflect the surroundings, rendering them invisible. He first used it in chapter 55 (episode 25 in the anime).
Hyuse is very skilled with this Trigger. The first time he used it, he was able to alter its shape to such an extent that he was able to pierce Yōtarō's clothes without harming his body, bending the blade in such a way that it went around him. He first used it in chapter 135.
