History

Utawaga joined border 2 years before Yūma's and Chika's enlistment, he was shown to make B-rank as well as join Kazama Squad before Kikuchihara.

Black Trigger Capture Arc

After returning from Menoeides, he, along with the rest of the Away Team, plus Miwa Squad, are assigned to steal Yūma's Black Trigger. The force is intercepted by Jin along with Arashiyama Squad.

Border Enlistment Arc

He is present at Yūma's debut along with his sqyad. He comments on how Yūma doesn't move like an amateur but says it makes sense since he is a neighbor. When Osamu accepts Kazama's challenge to a duel, Utagawa just silently watches. Kikuchihara expresses disappointment in the outcome, stating that he could have beat Osamu 100 times out of 100. Utagawa praises Osamu for his idea but Kikuchihara shoots it down, Kikuchihara says what Kazama should of done and claims that he should of done better but Utagawa asks what makes him so arrogant.

Large-Scale Invasion Arc

Kazama Squad fights the Rabbit that captured Suwa after saving Tsutsumi and Sasamori. Utagawa tells Sasamori to battle other trion soldiers with Tsutsumi and that his squad will save Suwa.

B-Rank Wars Arc

Utagawa, along with Kikuchihara, greet Usami and Tamakoma Second following Round 2. He tells them that Kazama Squad is about to go out on defense duty.

Utagawa is on hall security along with Kikuchihara during the Galopoula Invasion, and meets up with Nasu Squad while Kikuchihara aids in them defeating Wen Sō.

Away Mission Test Arc

Utagawa is assigned to lead Squad 1 for the testing phase. This squad consists of Utagawa, Yuma, Urushima, Tomoe, Sayoko.
